Committee Plans 10th Annual Tree Fest of Children’s Books

The Daily Item

— SELINSGROVE — This holiday happening, a treat for young and old alike, will be held again this year in the Rudy Gelnett Memorial Library, 1 N. High St. in Selinsgrove, from Dec. 3 through 20, during library hours.

The many trees and wreaths in Tree Fest are each decorated to express the theme of a children’s book. The decorator selects a book and creates decorations accordingly. A family, church or school group, a business, or an individual may be a decorator. One stipulation is that books from the past two years may not be used again this year.

Visitors buy and cast votes for their favorite trees or wreaths and the tree and wreath with the most votes are recognized with certificates of merit. This much-loved community festival of trees promotes reading of the featured books and raises funds for childhood literacy through the summer reading programs of the Snyder County Libraries.

The Tree Fest committee invites new decorators to be part of this magical and creative event.
