Apply for area healthcare grant opportunities


SUNBURY — The Sunbury Area Community Foundation announces grant opportunities from the Sunbury Area Health Fund, Mary E. and J. Guy Lesher Fund, C. Preston Geist and Kathryn S. Geist Endowment Fund, Clyde H. Jacobs Fund and Gladys C. Dagle Fund. This competitive grant round begins soon and will continue into September.

Organizations that invest in programs and projects that specifically target the following health-related goal areas are encouraged to apply:

* Children’s Health

* Early Childhood

* Oral Health

* Issues regarding the working poor

* Coronary Care

Only 501 (c) (3) non-profit and governmental organizations are eligible to apply and 100 percent of requested funding from the above noted funds must be invested within the original Sunbury hospital service area. This service area is also defined as the geographic area within the Shikellamy, Selinsgrove and Line Mountain school districts. Individuals are not eligible to apply.

Grant applications must be completed and submitted through a web-based program. Prior to beginning the Sunbury Area Community Foundation grant application process, applicants will be required to attend one of two offered grant workshops held at the Northumberland National Bank’s Operations Center, 85 King St., Northumberland. Applicants will be given an access code at the grant workshop which will enable them to apply online. Applicants will not be able to apply without attending a workshop.

Grant Workshops are scheduled for 9 a.m. June 19 and 3 p.m. July 2.

Grant requests must be submitted online by 5 p.m. Aug. 1.

Prior to attending a Grant Workshop, you could get a head start by having documents ready in electronic forms that will be required attachments that will need to be uploaded via the online web-based grant application process. Those required attachments include:

1. Organization’s budget showing income and expense report

2. Most recent 990

3. Current board of directors list

4. Project budget
