— DALMATIA — A Maryland man required treatment at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville on Friday evening after accidentally shooting himself in the foot with a 12-gauge shotgun.

At 6 p.m., Antonio D. Croce, of New Market, had just finished a round of shooting at the sport clay area of Martz Game Farm, when he rested the barrel of his Browning semi-automatic shotgun on the front of his foot. According to state police at Stonington, Croce then brushed or bumped the trigger of the gun and accidentally shot his second and third toe with the 12-gauge pellets loaded in the gun. The police report said Croce’s toes were “mutilated” as a result of the accident.

On Sunday, a nursing supervisor said that Croce had been discharged earlier in the weekend.
