SUNBURY — Summer brings vacations, no schools in session and the continuing need for blood. The American Red Cross Northeastern Pennsylvania Region is asking all eligible donors to remember to help others by donating blood. The need for blood does not take a vacation.
Congregation Beth El, 249 Arch St., Sunbury, is hosting a bloodmobile from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5. The Sunbury Rotary Club is sponsoring the canteen for the visit. Double red collection will be available at this bloodmobile.
Eligible volunteer blood donors are asked to call (800) 733-2767 or visit redcrossblood.org to make appointments. Walk-ins are welcomed. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in PA), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to give blood. Positive identification is required at the time of donation.
