— SUNBURY – A two-car accident in Rockefeller Township Friday afternoon sent a local woman to the hospital and shut down traffic on Route 890 for about an hour.
The accident occurred about 12:15 p.m. Jonathan Malick, 39, of Sunbury, said he was driving his dark blue Dodge Ram pickup eastbound on Route 890 when the woman, driving a red Cadillac sedan, allegedly pulled in front of him at Kehres Road while attempting to go westbound on Route 890.
Malick, who was uninjured, said he could not stop his truck in time and the vehicles collided, the truck hitting the Cadillac on the driver broadside.
The woman’s name has not yet been released. Americus Hose Co. ambulance transported her from the scene.
Traffic was turned around at Peace Valley Road to the west and Plum Creek Road to the east during accident response. Route 890 opened about an hour later.
Attending to the accident were Upper Augusta Volunteer Fire Dept., East Sunbury Hose Co., Friendship Hose Co. No. 1, Sunbury Fire Police and the Pennsylvania State Police.
Paul’s Auto Body and Painting of Sunbury towed both vehicles from the scene. The truck had damage to its front bumper; side airbags were deployed on the driver’s side of the Cadillac.
