The Honor & Leadership Corps is offering a structured, interactive six-week summer day camp program for ages 12-17. Beginning July 9, the Honor and Leadership Corps is designed to help develop honor, respect, self-discipline, relationship building, responsibility, and community service in the young people of the local communities.
This is an all-volunteer, grass roots, non-denominational program. Youth participate free of charge. The Honor and Leadership Corps day camp will be held Tuesday through Thursday for six consecutive weeks, beginning July 9. Camp hours are 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided for all participants at no cost.
The camp will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 300 Queen St., Northumberland.
The Honor and Leadership Corps is a community outreach family resource involving multiple volunteer groups, including members of the military and law enforcement communities, churches, businesses, working families, retirees, and moms and dads concerned about the younger generation.
The local volunteer leadership team brings the experience of many years working directly with young people. The team is committed to helping young people develop character and integrity, so that they can discover their greatest potential. The Corps’ goal is to see youth become assets and pillars of success in the community.
The Honor & Leadership Corps is anchored upon the foundational principles on which the nation was established. Young applicants to the program and their families will be carefully interviewed to identify their genuine interest in the program, and their determination to grow and succeed in life. Family members who enroll their children in this free program must become familiar with the Honor and Leadership Corps standards and be in agreement with them.
Information sessions for parents, family members, and prospective youth participants will be held this month. Interested families may call St. John’s Lutheran Church for more information at (570) 473-3770. After hours, families may call (570) 649-6776 or visit www.honorandleadershipcorps.org.
