LEWISBURG — Fighting hunger and improving quality of life is the goal of the Lewisburg/Milton Meals on Wheels program, based at RiverWoods Senior Living Community in Lewisburg, which is owned by Albright Care Services, and is a nonprofit, faith-based organization.
For 42 years, the Lewisburg/Milton Meals on Wheels has been serving the Lewisburg, Milton, West Milton and Montandon areas. Currently, the organization has 75 volunteers who help pack and deliver the meals. In 2013, the program delivered 13,534 meals.
In order to continue to provide this weekday community service, the Meals on Wheels program counts on community support from individuals, local organizations, the Greater Susquehanna Valley United Way and the Feinstein Foundation.
For the 16th straight year, Alan Shawn Feinstein from the Feinstein Foundation in Rhode Island will divide $1 million among food-providing agencies nationwide. This is the greatest grassroots campaign to fight hunger our country has ever seen.
Any donations to Meals on Wheels received between now and April 30 will help Meals on Wheels receive an additional donation from the Feinstein Foundation. Join the campaign along with the Feinstein Foundation to alleviate hunger in our local communities. Anyone donating to Meals on Wheels will be recognized through the Partnership Giving Program at RiverWoods Senior Living Community and listed in Albright Care Services’ Annual Report. Contributions may be sent to Lewisburg/Milton Meals on Wheels, Albright Care Services, 90 Maplewood Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
