SUNBURY — The Susquehanna River Cleanup Project (SRCP) is gearing up for its spring cleanup along the banks of the Susquehanna River and is in need of volunteers. The cleanup will take place May 3, with volunteers meeting at the Sunbury Amphitheater and cleanup spanning from Sunbury to Lewisburg. There are various volunteer opportunities available this year, including trash pick-up, river guides, boaters, group leaders and musicians. A celebration concert will be held at the Sunbury Riverfront Amphitheater following the cleanup at 3 p.m. and will be free and open to the public.
Last year, over 100 volunteers took part in the cleanup and helped to collect a total of 6,000 pounds of garbage, most of which was recycled.
