Sure, those cell-phone photos of cafe tables at sunset are pretty, but are you an artist?
The Melrose Lightspace is accepting entries for "The Instagram Show: Celebrating the Art of the Camera Phone," a juried exhibition slated to run Dec. 5-7 in West Hollywood, Calif.
Up to five Instagram/Oggl images per person can be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Photos can be taken with any sort of camera but must be finished with a phone application, and the final image -- at its largest file size -- must be square.
Top entries will be printed, matted and available for sale at the show, with 80 percent of the $50 sale price going to the artist. Unsold work is the artist's to keep.
There is no entry fee, although artists whose works are selected for the exhibition will be required to pay a $25 participation fee. This includes the cost of the professional printing and mounting.
Images from the show will be online at the Melrose Lightspace website.
