Jogger drowned in reservoir, coroner says

— NORTHUMBERLAND — Michael Kenney, the Point Township jogger whose body was found Wednesday morning after he had been missing for a week, drowned in Bear Gap Reservoir, Northumberland County Coroner James F. Kelley said Thursday.

The body of Kenney, 55, was recovered from the Roaring Creek tract of Bear Gap Reservoir in Weiser State Forest, Kelley said.

Preliminary autopsy results showed Kenney drowned, Kelley said. The incident remains under investigation by the coroner’s office and Mount Carmel Township police.

A final ruling on the cause of death will be made by Kelley at the conclusion of toxicology testing and investigation.

No foul play is suspected, Kelley wrote in an email.

There will be a celebration of life for Kenney at 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at Emmanuel Bible Fellowship Church, Mile Hill Road, Sunbury.
