Mifflinburg's 4th of July Celebration: A Fourth of July frenzy begins at 7:15 p.m. at the Herr Memorial Library. Activities feature fireworks, painting and playing games. Register by visiting the circulation desk of the library or call (570) 966-0831.

Pineknotter Days continue in Northumberland: The 42nd annual Pineknotter Days continues in King Street Park. The Pineknotter Store and Concessions is open from 6-10 p.m. Events feature a car show from 6-9 p.m., with registration beginning at 4:30 p.m. at King and Third streets. A concert by the 60s Boys begins at 7 p.m. The Priestley Forsyth Memorial Library holds a book sale from 4-8 p.m.

Selinsgrove's Summer Music Series: The Rudy Gelnett Summer Music Series features PA Crude from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Selinsgrove Commons.

Fourth of July Ice Cream in Sunbury: Sunbury Parks & Recreation features “Fourth of July ice cream” at the Oppenheimer Playground, North Second Street. Children will be making homemade ice cream. Questions about start time contact a Sunbury Playground staff member at the playground.

Independence Day, Friday, July 4

Mifflinburg's 4th of July Celebration: The 43rd annual July 4th celebration held in Mifflinburg Community Park. Events begin with a tennis tournament at 9 a.m. at the Second Street Courts. Singles, 16 years and younger, adult singles, open doubles. Preregister with Don Ulrich at (570) 274-6529. Bring new unopened Wilson or Penn Championship balls. Also at 9 a.m., the 31st annual Mifflinburg 5K race begins (registration closes at 8:30 a.m.) Other events include 9:50 and 10:05 a.m., children’s fun runs (.5 mile), 10 a.m. lunch, 11 a.m. pet parade, forms at 10:30 a.m. at the Legacy parking lot, Eighth Street, traveling to Rail Trail, to Fifth Street to park, 12:30 p.m. registration for horseshoe and quoits - $5 registration for two-member team (begins at 1 p.m.), 12:30 p.m. registration for children’s games, children age 10 and younger only (games at 1 p.m.), 2:30 p.m., Mifflinburg’s Got Talent competition - registration limited — call (570) 966-4282, 3:30-6 p.m. chicken barbecue, 6-10 p.m. festival with food, games and bingo, 7:15 and 9:15 p.m., entertainment by Re-Creation at the Community Park gazebo, and 10:15 p.m. fireworks.
