Twitter meltdown: World Cup match most tweeted sporting ever

Germany's destruction of host Brazil in the semifinals of the FIFA World Cup was the most tweeted sports game ever, with more than 35.6 million tweets during the match.

The German's won 7-1 on Tuesday, embarrassing world power Brazil with five goals in the first half and four in a seven-minute span. At the game's peak, when Sami Khedira scored to make it 5-0, there were more than 580,000 Tweets per minute about the game.

Germany will make its record eighth appearance in a World Cup Final on Sunday when it takes on Argentina. Led by Lionel Messi, Argentina advance to the final with a shootout victory over the Netherlands on Wednesday afternoon.
