NORTHUMBERLAND -- Catherine E. Goshy, 93, a lifelong resident of Northumberland, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Notttingham Village, Northumberland, where she had resided for the past six years.
Catherine was born Oct. 25, 1918, in Northumberland, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Gavason) Goshy.
She attended Spruce Hollow School in Point Township.
She worked for Westinghouse in Sunbury and the David Knit Dress plant in Northumberland, where she worked until her retirement in 1981.
Catherine was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Point Township, since 1932, had sang in the choir and had been the eldest member. She was also a member of Post 44 American Legion Auxillary.
Catherine is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Lee Gottshall, of Northumberland; nieces and nephews, JoAnn Tebo, Mary Servic, Raymond, Robert, and Charles Evans, Timothy, Peter and Bunny Rake and Delores Frederick, of Snydertown.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Stroh, Anna Rake, Minnie Evans and Rose Brouse, and two brothers, Mitchell Goshy and Charles Goshy, who was killed in France during World War II.
Friends and family may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland, where the funeral service will be held at 11 with the Rev. Adrian J. Shearer officiating.
Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland.
