DANVILLE -- Daisy G. Carr, 91, formerly of 26 Grand St., passed away on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, at Emmanuel Nursing Center at Maria Joseph, Danville. She had also resided at Heritage Heights in Danville.
She was born Nov. 23, 1919, in Montour County, the daughter of the late Howard R. and Olive V. (Golder) Bitler. On Sept. 28, 1942, she married William F. Carr, who preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2001. They celebrated 58 years of marriage.
Daisy was a devoted homemaker and an Avon lady for 30 years in the Danville area.
She enjoyed scrapbooking and organizing photo albums. She also enjoyed various crafts which included needleworking.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. and Cathi Carr, of Wicomico Church, Va.; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Gloria Ann and Donald Hans and Barbara L. and Carl Minnick, all of Danville, Janet M. and Gary Gemberling, of Lewisburg, Nancy A. Carr, of Monroe, N.C., and Eileen F. and Timothy Hettinger, of Sunbury; 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Gordon Bitler, of Danville; one sister, Romayne Swisher, of Montgomery; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Dawn Kline, of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, John F. Kline, one grandson, Chadwick A. Carr, and two brothers, Robert and Raymond Bitler.
Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc., 10 W. Mahoning St., Danville, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Craig D. Laidacker, of Bloomsburg Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg.
