CALIMESA, Calif. — Daniel A. Bickel, 43, a resident of Calimesa, passed away on Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, due to complications relating to multiple sclerosis.

He was born March 1, 1965, a son of Betty Mae (Fausey) and Chester C. Ricewick Jr. of Winfield, Pa., and Ronald Lee and Winifred (Shaffer) Bickel of Sunbury, Pa.

Daniel was a 1984 graduate of Shikellamy High School and was an award-winning serviceman in the Navy, serving on the USS Chandler.

Family was very important to Daniel. His children were his world, and he let anyone who would listen know that fact. He looked forward to the few trips he was able to make back to Pennsylvania to visit his parents, brothers and extended family. It is a comfort to know that his years of suffering from MS are over, and he is now face to face with his Savior.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two children, Valerie Ann Bickel and Daniel Bickel II, children of former wife Jennifer (Mansker) Bickel; and four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Ronald II and Brenda (Fuller) Bickel of Sunbury, Donald and Kim (Knecht) Bickel and Rodney Bickel of Northumberland, Pa., and Lonnie Bickel of Alexandria, Va.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Brookside Ministries, Shamokin Dam, Pa.

Interment of ashes will take place immediately following in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
