SELINSGROVE — Selinsgrove Area High School is taking a trip back in time to the 1970s with their spring musical, "Disco Inferno."
The musical will hit the stage at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Friday and Saturday in the Selinsgrove Area High School Auditorium.
"We are having a blast working on this show," musical director Joyce M. Hendricks said.
"The disco music is just irresistible, and makes you want to dance and celebrate. The students are really into it." Musical director Andy Seal agrees. "The kids have done a great job picking up on the feel and groove of the music. They are fun songs, and everyone has really embraced the excitement that the music brings to the table."
The show takes well-known disco hits from the 1970s and uses them to tell a variation on the story of Faust, who sold his soul to the devil, in this case for fame and pop superstardom.
Junior Andrew Burd plays Jack, the fool who dreams of a life in music, and senior Casey Martin plays the love he risks losing along the way. The rest of the cast is rounded out by Katie Richards, Kyle Muthler, Davis Markle, Hannah Aurand, Alex Lupolt, Michelle Delgado, David Martin and Andrew Oreskovich. More than 20 additional students round out the chorus, featured dancers and pit musicians.
