McEWENSVILLE — Communities Thrive Your Library is this year's theme for National Library Week held April 11-17. The Montgomery House Warrior Run Area Public Library has several events planned.
At 6:30 p.m. April 12 is an Internet Basics workshop. Registration is required. At 6 p.m. April 13, the Warrior Run Woman's Club will hold their annual event.
This year's theme is "Treasure" and is open to children of all ages. Also at 7 p.m. April 13, the Book Discussion Group will meet to discuss "Change of Heart," by Jodi Picoult. At 4 p.m. April 15, Wii Gaming @ the Library is open to gamers of all ages. Also at 7 p.m. April 15, Novel Quilters create works of art while socializing and making new friends.
At 11 a.m. April 16, Spring Fever will be the theme for Preschool Story Time. At 6 p.m. Teen Nite will explore the culture of France. Also at 7 p.m. during Library Café the Wii, Karaoke, board games, and card games will be available. Bring your own games or play the library's. New to the library is a hot beverage and snack machine. At 1 p.m. April 17 the Discovery Kids will have a Library Scavenger Hunt. This program is for children ages 6-9 (grades K-3).
A special showing of the newly released "The Princess and The Frog" will be held at 6: 30 p.m..April 8. Discover what really happened after the princess kissed the frog in an inspired twist on the world's most famous kiss. This film is rated G. Feel free to bring your favorite snack and/or blanket.
A Flower Arranging Workshop will be held at 6 p.m., April 21. Create a centerpiece for yourself or as a gift for Mother's Day. Registration is required.
Color Your World art workshops will return at 11 a.m., April 24. No previous art experience is necessary; these workshops are designed to expand our creative horizons. The series is open to adults and teens at no cost. The workshops will be offered every Saturday through May 22. Class size is limited due to space, sign up today.
Every Child Ready to Read workshop will be held at 6 p.m., April 27. Parents of children ages 0-5 years will learn the basic steps that can help your child learn to read. Registration is requested.
The library is seeking an artist to paint an ocean scene on the ceiling of the children's room. This new creation will help to promote the theme for our Summer Library Program "Make Waves." This would be on a volunteer basis. If interested in helping with this project, contact the library by phone or e-mail listed below.
With spring arriving and lots to do the Seed/Plant Exchange program will only be meeting twice a month. Contact the library for more details on joining this group.
The library is currently selling Weis gift cards as a fundraiser. For each card sold a small percentage is received to help fund library programs. The gift cards are available in increments of $25, $50 and $100.
Operating hours 1 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
