DANVILLE -- The clients and Board of Directors of Jubilee Kitchen invite the Danville community, all previous volunteers, servers and friends of Lois Gensil to "Lois Gensil Recognition Day" from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Sat., June 16, at the Jubilee Kitchen in the Assembly Room of Mahoning Presbyterian Church, Danville.

Lois retired in January of this year after serving the Kitchen for 14 years. She was there in the beginning for the fact-finding and formation process in 1993, working from an idea that the late Howard Huntington had. He had passed his idea along to Sandy O'Rourke, a fellow food bank board member just prior to his death. She in turn discussed it with the Danville-Riverside Area Ministerium Association and at a community meeting much interest was shown. A task force was set up and the Kitchen was open. It served on the second and third Saturdays of each month and Lois said at their first meal they had three patrons, They soon went to weekly meals and the number of patrons increased to twenty. Now, the Jubilee Kitchen serves 45 to 60 each Saturday.

Lois is being honored for her dedication and for all her hard work on behalf of the Jubilee Kitchen over the years. She has made the Kitchen what it is today.
