TURBOTVILLE — Warrior Run School District officials have announced registration and screening of kindergarten-age children for the 2009-10 school year.

Registration will be held on April 21 at the Watsontown Elementary School and April 23 at the Turbotville Elementary School. Both will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Registration and screening are by appointment only with at least one parent and the child attending. To register, parents should call the Turbotville school at 649-5164 as soon as possible. Appointments will last about an hour.

To be eligible for kindergarten, a child must be 5 on or before Sept. 1. Parents should bring birth certificate (not birth registration), social security card (optional) and immunization records. Immunizations required by law are as follows: four doses of tetanus (one dose on or after the fourth birthday); four doses of diphtheria (one dose on or after the fourth birthday); three doses of polio; two doses of measles; one dose of mumps; one dose of rubella (German measles); three doses of hepatitis B; and one dose of varicella (chickenpox) vaccine or history of disease. These must be complete before the first day of school.

Assignments of children will not be made until all registrations are completed.

The school district provides one-way transportation: to school for the morning session and from school for the afternoon session.

Children who will be of first-grade age and did not attend kindergarten this year must register for first grade after May 1 by calling Turbotville Elementary at 649-5164. To be eligible for first grade, a child must be 6 on or before Sept. 1.
