LEWISBURG — Letha Blanche Smith, 90, formerly of RR2 New Columbia and RR2 Lewisburg, died Saturday evening, Nov. 22, 2008, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg.
She was born March 30, 1918, in Danville, a daughter of the late Marcus D. and Ida (Long) Welliver. She was married for more than 60 years to Palmer L. Smith who preceded her in death on May 31, 1996.
Letha was a homemaker and, earlier in life, had been employed at Chef Boy-Ar-Dee, Milton, and the Milton Shoe Factory.
She was a charter member of the United Pentecostal Church, Lewisburg.
Her home was always open to friends and family and she especially enjoyed time spent with her family.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia A. and Hoyd Bingamen, of Selinsgrove, Letha I. and Mark Grover, of New Columbia, and Ruth E. and Earl Zechman, of Selinsgrove; four sons and daughters-in-law, Clinton J. and Connie Smith, of Milton, Laverne W. and Gloria Smith, of Lewisburg, Larry K. and Ruth Smith, of Milton, and Gary W. and Cindy Smith, of Milton; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Keith Marshall; one great-great-grandson, Jared Lloyd; four brothers, Wilbur Rearick, Charles, Donald, and Harry Welliver; and two sisters, Pearl Billman and Verda Welliver.
Friends and relatives will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday followed by a funeral service at 11, at the United Pentecostal Church, 2822 Buffalo Road, Lewisburg, with her sons, the Rev. Laverne W. Smith, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Larry K. Smith, pastor of New Life Tabernacle in Bloomsburg, and the Rev. Gary W. Smith, pastor of Calvary Tabernacle in Sunbury.
Interment will be made in the Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy, PA.
