WINFIELD -- Margaret E. Boob, 79, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2007, at her daughter's home in Winfield.

She was born on Aug. 18, 1927, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Royal and Mary (Bolig) Walter. She married her husband, the late John F. Boob, on Aug. 27, 1947, and they were blessed with 50 years of marriage until his death on April 17, 1998.

A 1945 graduate of Lewisburg High School, Margaret lived in Lewisburg for 43 years, and then in Mifflinburg for 3 years. She attended Leadership Training School in State College and had been active in 4-H.

Margaret was a member of Dreisbach United Church of Christ and was the first woman deacon on the Consistory in the Treasury of the church. She was a primary and adult Sunday school teacher and also served as Sunday School Superintendent. Margaret was a member of the Union County Sunday School Association.

For most of her life, Margaret was a homemaker. She also occasionally provided residential cleaning services to private homeowners.

Margaret was a former member of Town & Country Cruisers, Shikellamy Antique Car Clubs and the Buffalo Valley Grange.

Margaret's hobbies included bowling, crocheting, bargain hunting at yard sales, baking cookies to give away, and traveling to Florida during the winter months. She always looked forward to going to Country Cupboard on Wednesday mornings and enjoyed playing Phase Ten with family and hospice volunteers. She was also very well known for writing poems.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Paul Geiswite, of Winfield, (with whom she lived since October 2002); and Sharon and Russell Houseknecht, of Lewisburg; one brother, John R. Walter, of Mifflinburg; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, John, she was preceded in death by a son, John W. Boob, who died Aug. 2, 2003; a sister, Helen W. Shreck, who died in March 2007; a granddaughter, Melinda Southers; and two great-grandchildren, Calvin and Selina Southers, who died in December 1994.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg, and from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dreisbach United Church of Christ, Dreisbach Church Road, Lewisburg, where a funeral will follow at 11 with the Rev. Michael C. Romig, her pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Dreisbach Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Dreisbach United Church of Christ, Dreisbach Church Road, Lewisburg, PA 17837, or Evangelical Home Health Services/Hospice, One Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling for me to come home. God be with you, til we meet again.
