LEWISBURG -- Margaret E. Lauver, 101, formerly of 1620 Washington Ave., passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg, where she received the loving care of the staff on E Wing.
She was born Oct. 1, 1909, in Richfield, Juniata County, a daughter of the late Rev. Edward E. and Alice (Lyter) Dunkelberger. Margaret was married to Frank B. Lauver, whose death in 1989 broke a marital span of 52 years.
A graduate of Orbisonia High School and Lock Haven Teachers College, she taught for 16 years in the Midd-West School District. Margaret also assisted her husband in his various businesses, including the Sweet Shop in Lewisburg and the Hedges Inn in Eagles Mere.
She was a longtime member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the June Bennett Sunday school class, the United Methodist Women and PSERS.
Margaret was loved by all who knew her because of her strong faith, gentle ways and beautiful smile.
Surviving are three grandsons, Edward Lauver, of Newark, Del., Joseph R. Lauver, of Elkton, Md., and Matthew T. Grote, of Jennerstown; one daughter-in-law, Jean Lauver, of Hanahan, S.C.; one son-in-law, Thomas Grote, of Jennerstown; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three children, Joseph E. Lauver, Francis E. Lauver and Dr. Margaret L. Grote; two brothers, Joseph and Oscar Dunkelberger; and two sisters, Ruth Kratzer and Irene Baker.
Friends will be received from noon to 1 Friday at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg, followed by the funeral at 1 with her pastor, the Rev. Judi Dunkelberger, officiating.
Interment will follow in Glendale Cemetery, Middleburg.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions in Margaret's memory be made to the memorial fund of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 42 S. Fourth St., Lewisburg, PA 17837, or Albright Care Services, 3201 River Road, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
