WAYNE — Marian Louise (Swank) Mutschler, 80, left us peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at her home in Wayne with the support of her family and Vitas Hospice Care.
She was born Feb. 11, 1928, in Irish Valley, the daughter of the late George and Mildred (Yordy) Swank, formerly of Snydertown. Marian is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Jack A. Mutschler.
Marian was a charter member of Community United Methodist Church, Lancaster, and was very active in her church through the years of her membership.
Beyond her role as a loving wife and mother, Marian had undertaken various career endeavors, including working as a telephone operator, a nurse's aide and a shoe store manager.
In her free time, Marian enjoyed a variety of activities, including playing pinochle with a group of friends, camping and boating with her family and traveling through most of North America with her dear friends, Paul and Millie Grube.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jeffrey A. Mutschler of Willow Street and Judson A. and Mary K. Mutschler of Palmyra; one daughter and son-in-law, Judith M. and Glenn Nestel of Wayne, with whom Marian and Jack lived for 20 years; two brothers and one sister-in-law, William and Audrey Swank of Columbus, Ohio, and George Swank and his friend Geraldine of New Holland; a maternal aunt, Clara Blanksby of Warminster; a maternal uncle, John Yordy of Irish Valley; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. She will be remembered as well by her special "kids," Brian and Laura Grube, Missy and Kurt Reynolds, Patsy Reichner and Bob Tar.
Marian was preceded in death by two sons, Joel Alan Mutschler, in infancy, and Jason Alan Mutschler, formerly of Ephrata.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Gundel Funeral Home, 415 N. Duke St., Lancaster, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Jere R. Martin, of Morgantown United Methodist Church, officiating.
