NORTHUMBERLAND -- Mary Elizabeth Buckley, 88, a resident of Nottingham Village for eight years, went to be with her Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ, on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011.
Mary was born May 14, 1922, at the home of her grandparents in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late John and Anna Weaver-Trump.
She was a 1939 graduate of Danville High School and received her degree in teaching from the Bloomsburg State Teachers College in 1943. She received her master's in English from Bucknell University, Lewisburg.
She taught for approximately 35 years, teaching in the Nescopeck, Shikellamy and Philadelphia school districts.
Mary was a lifetime member of First Reformed Church United Church of Christ, Sunbury.
After retiring, Mary enjoyed traveling, playing bridge and spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by one son, John Bruner, of Atlas; one sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Robert LeVan, of Riverside; two grandsons, Joshua and Donald Ripple, of Northumberland; one great-granddaughter, Emily Ann Ripple, of Northumberland; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Bruner; second husband, Joseph Buckley Sr.; one daughter, Ann Ripple; one sister, Bernice Ryan; and one brother, Lawrence Trump.
Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Brady Funeral Home, 320 Church St., Danville, followed by the funeral at 11 with her pastor, the Rev. Thomas J. Dunkle, officiating.
