MILTON -- Allen and Betty Kessler, of Milton recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married June 17, 1961 by the Rev Bruce Smay, of Riverside, with Herb and Shirley Hewlett as attendants. The couple were honored at a surprise party given by their son and daughter-in-law for family and friends at the Watsontown United Methodist Church on June 11.

Allen is the son of the late Harry and M. Mildred Kessler, of Danville. He is a 1953 graduate of Danville High School. He earned his bachelor's degree at Bloomsburg State College and his master's degree at Montclair State Teacher's College, N.J. He taught in the New Jersey school systems and later returned to Pennsylvania. He retired from Merck pharmaceuticals as a chemical operator.

Mrs. Kessler is the former Betty Pursel, daughter of the late Archie and Eva Pursel, of Riverside. She is a 1951 graduate of Danville High School.

They have one son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Millie Kessler, of Watsontown and two grandchildren, Laura and Bryce.
