Al and Nancy Neuner, along with Buster, a toy fox terrier, live on Bald Top in "The House that Al Built."

Al, a mechanical engineer and associate vice president of facilities at Geisinger Medical Center, researched, designed and built this home to be environmentally friendly. Every window, floor, wall, lighting fixture, every detail of design was determined by the information that he accumulated through study of the subject.

This passive solar home is nestled among the trees on the south side of Bald Top where the floor-to-ceiling windows, beside creating heat for the home, offer a spectacular view of Danville, Riverside and the Susquehanna River.

The Juliette walkway in front of the home offers a great sight to enjoy the wildlife, such as many species of birds, deer and possibly a bear or two which often visit the home.

Take time to examine the dining room table, special to Al, that was built from wooden beams and steel salvaged from Bethlehem Steel Co.

The Neuners have added artwork on the ledge that surrounds the interior of the home. Take time to notice the woodwork.

Holiday decorations will be consistent with the natural surroundings of the home. Al will be willing to explain the special details.
