MOORESBURG — A bake-off, a chili cook-off, entertainment and a soap box derby will be part of this year’s Mooresburg Community Day on June 21.

Festivities will begin at 9 a.m. with a 10-K run. Winners will be announced at 10:30.

Larry Mordan again will lead iron ore mine tours starting at 11.

The bake-off will be held along with the chili cook-off. A new category — anything chocolate — has been added to the bake-off. Registration for the bake-off and chili cook-off is at 11. Judging for them will be held at noon with winners announced at 1:30.

The second annual Mooresburg Car Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration for it will be held from 8 to 10 a.m.

A car parade will follow at noon.

The Salamanders, who are putting together a reunion tour, will entertain from 1 to 2 and from 7:30 to 8:30. The one-room school will be open from 1 to 3. The soap box derby for children ages 6 to 12 will be held from 2 to 4.

The Covered Bridge Cloggers, of Bloomsburg, will perform from 4 to 5. A paddlewheel will be featured at 5, followed by the Lykens Valley Blue Grass Boys at 6. Van Wagner will entertain from 8:30 to 9:30.

A crafts and flea market will be set up in the township building. Anyone wanting to rent a 10-by-10 foot space should call Linda Llewellyn at 275-3061 or Lorraine George at 275-5547.

Raffle tickets are available for prizes including a $200 George Farms gift certificate, a $100 gas card, a $100 Weis Markets gift card and a $100 Giant Foods gift card. They are being sold by George, Rebecca Bourbeau at 271-0248 and at the firemen’s breakfasts.
