POINT TOWNSHIP - A Coal Township man suffered a cardiac eventwhile driving in Point Township this morning, leaving him dead and his car in a sunflower field.
Harley E. Gonsar Jr., 45, of Coal Township died from the cardiac event shortly after 7 a.m., which caused his car to veer off the roadway as Gosnar was travelling down Route 147 near the intersection with Route 405, said Northumberland County Coroner James Kelley.
No other vehicles were involved and there were no passengers in the vehicle with Gonsar, Kelley said.
Gonsar's car left the roadway as Gonsar was travelling north, went through a yard, then came back into the roadway, crossing both lanes of traffic before heading off the roadway and through a soybean field before coming to a rest in the sunflower field, Kelley said.
Traffic was slow through the area immediately following the accident but was cleared shortly before 9 a.m.
