Jail employee retires after more than two decades

Northumberland County Jail Warden Bruce Kovach presents correctional officer Leonard Socko with a plague upon his retirement on Friday.

COAL TOWNSHIP — A longtime employee at Northumberland County Jail retired on Friday.

Warden Bruce Kovach said Leonard Socko retired after 26 years of service as a correctional officer.

He started at the former county prison in Sunbury and was an instrumental part of the transition team to activate the new jail, said Kovach.
