MIDDLEBURG — A Snyder County jury convicted a 36-year-old Millmont man Friday of molesting a 12-year-old girl.
Micheal R. Hoskins was convicted on all counts, including two felonies — aggravated indecent assault and corruption of minors — and two misdemeanors — indecent exposure and open lewdness — following the daylong trial.
"I am grateful that the jury heard the victim’s voice and validated it with their verdict so the defendant will be held accountable,” Snyder County District Attorney Mike Piecuch said.
In March 2016, Hoskins was arrested by Pennsylvania State Police. He was charged with sexual offenses for a series of four incidents perpetrated in and about Penns Creek, Snyder County, between June and September of 2015. The victim turned 12 years old during the summer of 2015.
President Judge Michael T. Hudock presided over the trial, which was prosecuted by Piecuch.
At DA Piecuch’s request following the verdict, Hudock noted the seriousness of the offenses for which Hoskins was convicted and modified bail to $25,000 straight cash. Hudock further ordered Hoskins to undergo an evaluation by the state Sexual Offenders Assessment Board.
Sentencing was deferred pending receipt of that evaluation, which is expected to take up to 90 days to complete.
