BERWICK, Pa. (AP) — A former control room operator at the Susquehanna nuclear power plant in Luzerne County has been cited by federal regulators for failing to report a drunken driving arrest.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission says the operator was arrested for DUI on June 19, 2006, but failed to report the arrest to plant owner PPL Corp. as required.

PPL has fired the operator and the NRC has suspended his operating license. The NRC says the man might be allowed to work at a nuclear plant again if he writes a letter discussing what lessons he has learned and meets other conditions set by the agency.

The NRC did not release the man’s name.
