DANVILLE — Charges of simple assault and harassment against a Scranton man have been withdrawn, according to the office of Montour County District Judge Marvin Shrawder.
Ricardo Montijo, 35, was charged following an incident March 18 in the neonatal intensive care unit of Geisinger Medical Center. He had been scheduled for a preliminary hearing Monday before Shrawder.
Jessica Montijo had cuts and scratches on her wrist and knuckles, Mahoning Township police said. She told officers her husband was trying to take keys from her. She was in the waiting area of the unit when he entered the room and started yelling at her. She told him to leave her alone, but he started to follow her around the room, grabbing her arms and hands to get the keys and pushing her, she said.
She tried to call police on her cell phone, but was unable to do so. She tried several times to call from a phone in the waiting room with her husband hanging up the phone. She was able to get away and dialed 911.
Ricardo Montijo told police he wanted to go home but his wife wouldn’t give him the keys. When he tried to get the keys from her, she kept pushing him away, he said.
