Meanwhile, Catholics United today launched a television ad campaign calling on people of faith to offer gratitude to Congressman Chris Carney for voting for final passage of health care reform legislation.

"By his vote for health care reform, Congressman Carney has shown that he is fighting for the interests of working Americans, not the interests of corporate lobbyists," said Chris Korzen, executive director of Catholics United. "We wholeheartedly thank Congressman Carney for doing right by Pennsylvania's families, and we condemn the violence and intimidation that has apparently been perpetrated by some opponents of health care reform."



Rohrer to host 'Pennsylvania Town Hall'

State Rep. Sam Rohrer, a Republican candidate for the gubernatorial nomination, will host a “Pennsylvania Town Hall” at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Old Lycoming Township Volunteer Fire Company, 1600 Dewey Ave., Williamsport.

The event is free and open to the public.

Rohrer is the author of a measure to eliminate and replace school property taxes, and a leading proponent for spending restraint and budget reform.

His meeting will focus on specific proposals to reduce spending, cut taxes and inspire a new culture of ethics in state government.
