Interstate 80 accident closes road

Wochnik, 42, of Burbank, Ill., at 6:15 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 80 at Mile Marker 213 in Turbot Township, Northumberland County, according to state police. The accident forced the closure of the eastbound lanes of the interstate for four hours, causing detours and traffic tie-ups on Route 147 and Interstate 180. Police said Bisel’s injuries weren’t life-threatening.

A Sunday evening crash closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 for four hours and sent a truck driver from Michigan to the hospital -- but not until after rescuers had to work for an hour to free Piotr W. Wochnik from the wreckage.

Troopers said another truck driver, Wochnik, 42, of Burbank, Ill., didn't stop for slowed traffic and his truck slammed into the back of the truck driven by John Bisel, 43, in the are of Mile Marker 213 in Turbot Township, Northumberland County.
