MIFFLINBURG — Norman D. Kouf, 86, of 174 Baker Hollow Road, entered into rest, surrounded by his family, at 3:56 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2008, at his home.
He was born July 26, 1921, in Ithaca, N.Y., a son of the late Norman V. and Emma (Hoffman) Kouf. On Aug. 30, 1941, in Enfield Center, N.Y., he married the former Esther M. McFall, who survives with 66 years of wonderful memories of their life together.
Mr. Kouf enlisted in the Army on March 21, 1945, and served until his honorable discharge on Dec. 7, 1946.
He worked as the service manager at Agway, Lewisburg, retiring in 1984.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one son, Melvin D. Kouf of Flemington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce M. and James Harding of Beaver Springs and Janice E. and Jeffrey Killian of New Columbia; one brother and sister-in-law, David E. and Cil Kouf of Lansing, N.Y.; one sister, Lorraine Goodman of Ithaca, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Winefred Frankenstien, Francis Beach and Vivian Quakenbush.
Private services will be at the family's convenience.
Contributions in Norman's memory may be sent to a local hospice.
