While winter brings snow-filled fun and cozy nights by the fireplace for some, it can also cause dire challenges for others — especially low-income senior citizens facing hunger.

Food insecurity affects nearly five million elderly Americans living in all different communities across the country, including our own. The winter months can be incredibly trying for these seniors, as expensive heating bills and snowy weather can make accessing healthy meals increasingly difficult.

Fortunately, one incredible community program, Union-Snyder Agency on Aging Inc., works tirelessly to deliver nutritional food to low-income, homebound seniors in our area.

In fact, the organization provided 31,552 meals throughout this past year alone, allowing many of them to live independent, healthy lives, even during the toughest of winters.

Each year, the Jean Griswold Foundation partners with Griswold Home Care’s local offices to support organizations dedicated to assisting seniors in need through its annual grant program.

Griswold Home Care of North Central PA is proud to present this year’s grant to the Union-Snyder Agency on Aging to help them continue sharing in our mission of helping our elderly neighbors live meaningful and dignified lives.
