Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stated in a sermon titled, "The Man Who Was a Fool" that "materialism is a weak flame that is blown out by the breath of mature thinking." We have now been told that science is going to take its rightful place in President Obama's administration. The first thing the scientists are going to do is embryonic human experimentation.
The president would be wise to heed Dr. King's message. King preached, "Witnessing the amazing advances of science, modern man exclaimed: Science is my shepherd; I shall not want. It maketh me to lie down in green pastures; It leadeth me beside still water. It restoreth my soul ... I will fear no evil: for science is with me; Its rod and its staff they comfort me. ..."
Dr. King continued, "We need something more spiritually sustaining and morally controlling than science. It is an instrument which, under the power of God's spirit, may lead man to greater heights of physical security, but apart from God's spirit, science is a deadly weapon that will lead only to deeper chaos."
Dr. King or Dr. Frankenstein, whose morality will we choose?
The morality of the Bible or the morality of the survival of the fittest? No position is void of moral consequences. Unbridled science is dangerous science. Stephen Muller, past president of Johns Hopkins University stated it well when he noted, "The failure to rally around a set of values means that universities are turning out potentially highly skilled barbarians."
President Obama is headed in the wrong direction, the one Jesus described as the broad way to destruction.
