Remembering Sept. 11, 2001


NEW YORK (AP) — The foundation named after a firefighter who perished on Sept. 11 after running from Brooklyn to Manhattan in full gear held a ceremony in lower Manhattan on Sunday to honor those lost in the years since the attacks.

NORTHUMBERLAND — The keynote speaker at the Northumberland Borough’s annual “We Will Remember” 9/11 memorial ceremony in King Street Park in Northumberland spoke of home and of truth on Saturday evening.

While the Rev. Paul Michael Britton was consoling a secretary who was worried about her husband’s safety in the twin towers in New York City during the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, he didn’t know that he had lost his own sister in the terrorism attacks.
