SHAMOKIN — Ruth Shipe Bingaman, 82, of Trevorton Road, passed away Monday, May 5, 2008, at Geisinger Select Specialty Hospital, Danville.
She was born Oct. 17, 1925, in Trevorton, a daughter of the late Elmer B. and Pearl M. (Ashbridge) Haupt. She was married to Charles J. Shipe, who preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1982, and then married Marlin "Red" Bingaman, who died March 9, 2005.
She was a 1943 graduate of Trevorton High School.
Ruth was first employed at Olmstead Air Force Base in Middletown and retired from Hershey Foods.
She was a member of Evangelical Congregational Church, Trevorton, where she served as the church organist. Ruth was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Trevorton Patsies and the Trevorton Senior Action Center.
Ruth is survived by two sons and their spouses, Robert and Joan Shipe of Stroudsburg and Charles and Debbie Shipe of Lewisberry; three stepchildren and their spouses, Harry and Linda Bingaman of Northumberland, Gary Bingaman of Trevorton Road and Sharon and Dan Evans of Pottstown; one grandchild; five stepgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Dennis R. Shipe; one sister, Dorothy Bonzall; and one brother, Everett B. Haupt.
There will be a visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Evangelical Congregational Church, 613 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 with the Rev. Richard Sweppenhiser officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Trevorton.
