Penn State's Bo Nickal celebrates his victory over Cornell's Gabe Dean in the 184-pound match in the championship round of the NCAA Division I wrestling championships in 2017. Nickal, a two-time NCAA champion, will be part of the Nittany Lions squad competing at Bucknell in November.

LEWISBURG — Bucknell's wrestling team will host defending national champion Penn State at Sojka Pavilion this upcoming season.

The Nittany Lions, winners of seven of the past eight NCAA titles, will make their first visit to Lewisburg, for a 7 p.m. dual on Friday, Nov. 30. Penn State and Bucknell met for the first time since 1945 last year in State College.

"I'm excited for our team to compete against Penn State," Wirnsberger said. "Since the reinstatement of our program, it has always been a goal to fill Sojka Pavilion to capacity for a wrestling match. I have a great feeling there won't be an empty seat in the house when the Bison come running out of the tunnel on November 30."

Atlantic Coast Conference power North Carolina will also visit Sojka Pavilion during the 2018-19 campaign. The Bison and Tar Heels, who have not met in Lewisburg since 1993, will square off on Feb. 1.

Beyond its Sojka duals against Penn State and North Carolina, Bucknell will host five duals in Davis Gym. The Bison will take on Buffalo, Cleveland State and VMI (Nov. 11), Navy (Jan. 5), Franklin & Marshall (Feb. 3), American (Feb. 9) and Columbia (Feb. 23) at home during EIWA action.
