SELINSGROVE — Tyler Showers, Ian Weaver and Evan Poust combined to pitch Selinsgrove to a 5-1 nonleague victory over Greenwood on Friday.

The trio limited Greenwood to five hits and three walks, although they combined for just two strikeouts. Showers pitched the first four innings and got the win for Selinsgrove.

Zac Broome led the Seals at the plate batting 2-for-3 and driving in a run. Brendan Carner and Logan Sears both drove in runs with nary a hit.

Warrior Run 0

HUGHESVILLE — The Spartans exploded for four runs in the first inning before shutting out the Defenders for the HAC-II victory.

A two-run double by Trevor Gagliano combined with a two-run single from Nate Hampton powered Hughesville (14-3) in the early goings. The Spartans would score their fifth run in the second inning.

Warrior Run (12-4) was held to just two hits in the game — singles by Lloyd Minium and Gage Anzulavich.

Line Mountain 0

MIFFLINTOWN — An RBI single by Justin Mingle in the third inning was all that the Indians needed to beat the Eagles for the Tri-Valley League win.

Line Mountain was held to five hits in the loss, with Kurt Mace leading the Eagles with a 2-for-3 day.

TENNIS

LEWISBURG — Despite falling in the District 4 team tournament final on Thursday, Lewisburg still has plenty to play for this season.

First up for the Green Dragons was a rescheduled Heartland-II match with the Hughesville Spartans on Friday, which Lewisburg won 5-0.

Tyler Spinello and Carter Casimir rolled in singles play, while Lewisburg’s doubles teams both took 6-0, 6-1 victories on the day for the Green Dragons (17-2).

The next match for Lewisburg is District 3 champ Wyomissing in a PIAA first-round contest on Tuesday at noon at the Hershey Racquet Club.

DANVILLE — The Ironmen ended their season with a win as they swept the Lancers in HAC-II action.

Aidan Kennedy and Dhruv Kotru won their respective Nos. 1 and 2 singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores. David Tuchman won by forfeit at No. 3 singles for Danville (13-3).

GIRLS LACROSSE

LEWISBURG — Wyoming Seminary was outscored by Lewisburg 5-3 in the second half, but it wasn’t enough as the Green Dragons fell, 11-10, in a nonleague game on Friday.

Olivia Reish and Lindsay Starr scored three goals apiece to lead Lewisburg.

Abby Straub paced Wyoming Seminary with a four-goal day.

SOFTBALL

TURBOTVILLE — A two-run home run by Mikayla Griner in the sixth inning helped give Warrior Run the lead and a 4-3 Heartland-II victory over Montoursville on Friday.

Gina Beyer and Gabby Heiss combined for five singles and two RBIs for Warrior Run (10-5 overall), which also got a complete-game win from Megan Herriman.

Things only get tougher for Warrior Run, as the Defenders host division-leading Milton and ace pitcher Kylie Brouse today at 4:30 p.m.
