MECHANICSBURG — The Tigers finally got the better of the Wildcats, and they did it when it mattered most — in the Class A state tournament.

Xavier Clement and Gannon Ryan made spot kicks in the shootout for East Juniata, while Halifax made only one, which allowed the Tigers to advance to Saturday’s PIAA quarterfinals. East Juniata will face Dock Mennonite, a 4-0 winner over Devon Prep.

Halifax defeated East Juniata three times previously this season by a combined margin of 12-2.

The Wildcats scored the only first half goal, and then Cade Brubaker scored on a penalty kick midway through the second half to even the score for the Tigers.
