DANVILLE — A 48-year-old Danville State Hospital resident was charged Wednesday with arson for allegedly setting fire to a small garbage can last week.
Sandra E. Miske was arraigned on charges of arson, risking a catastrophe, criminal mischief and recklessly endangering another person by District Judge Marvin Shrawder. She was released back to the hospital on $50,000 unsecured bail.
Miske used a pack of matches to set fire to a metal garbage can in the hallway between Ward 311 and Ward 310 at 9:32 p.m. April 28, according to Mahoning Township police. Hospital staff quickly extinguished the fire before any damage was caused, police said.
The East End Fire Company, of Mahoning Township, cleared out the smoke with fans so residents could return to their wards, according to police.
