RECYCLING PICKUP SET

FOR THURSDAY

SUNBURY — Curbside recycling for the city of Sunbury will be on Thursday. Recyclables must be on the curb by 8 a.m.

Aluminum cans, glass bottles, and jars, will be collected. These materials, along with newspaper, steel cans, magazines/catalogs/glossy inserts and corrugated cardboard, will be accepted at the Drop-Off Center located at the Transfer Station on South Fourth Street.

All commercial, municipal and institutional establishments are also welcome to use the facility to meet their recycling obligation as stated in Act 101, Pennsylvania's Recycling Law. The facility's hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

FACULTY MEMBER IS GUEST POET

BLOOMSBURG — Jerry Wemple, who teaches creative writing at Bloomsburg University, will be the guest poet at the November meeting of River Poets.

The meeting will be held today at 7:30 p.m. at Phillips Emporium, 10 E. Main St. The theme for the evening is The Keystone Shortway, a nickname for the Pennsylvania portion of Interstate 80.

Mr. Wemple is the author of two collections of poetry, "You Can See It From Here" and "The Civil War in Baltimore." He is co-editor of the anthology "Common Wealth: Contemporary Poets in Pennsylvania." He is currently at work on a book of nonfiction.

An open reading will follow. Readers are encouraged to bring selections of their own work or share poems of favorite authors, with a five-minute suggested time for each participant. Listeners are always welcome.

LEWISBURG — The talk, "Compression Wood," by Franklin Burroughs, scheduled for Wednesday in Bucknell Hall at Bucknell University, has been postponed.

TOY DONATIONS

LEWISBURG — The office of Kenneth Jessick, the local Edward Jones financial adviser, will serve as a drop-off location for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots toy drive this year.

Residents may help needy children in the area by bringing in a new, unwrapped toy to the office at 23 N. Derr Drive, Suite 24, during regular business hours.
